***DR. KENYA FORD IS ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS FOR VIRTUAL SESSIONS ON MONDAYS, WITH IN-PERSON AVAILABILITY ON TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS STARTING MAY 26TH

My name is Dr. Kenya Ford (she/her) and I’m glad you’ve come across my page!

Since I was young, I knew I wanted to create safe spaces for people as they process their pain and work through life’s challenges. Through my journey, I learned that I actually wanted to co-create these spaces, and I have contributed to this mission by providing unconditional positive regard for my clients, which fosters an authentic connection between myself and clients. My hope is for our space together to have warmth and lack of judgment as you process feelings with my support. My goal is always to empower you, but also to incorporate gentle accountability to assist you in your growth. I will provide you additional resources, tools, and perspectives to what you already have, for you to use on your healing journey through life. I want us both to be clear that you ultimately make the decisions that are best for you. Through your journey you will find yourself learning more about who you are and finding less of a need to be apologetic about it!

One of my particular areas of interest is intersectionality, and clients who have 2 or more marginalized identities. These identities can create a unique experience for individuals living in between 2 or more cultures. I am also very open to working with anyone who is ready for therapy, whether this is your first time or are returning to therapy.

I use a social justice and equity lens, humanistic and person- centered values but have an eclectic approach to therapy with as much flexibility as the client in front of me may need. I integrate elements of CBT, psychodynamic, and IFS. DBT and other modalities are used when they feel appropriate. Caution: Healing and growing in session with me may including giggles to belly-laughing, cursing (a little or a lot), and crying is approved when it feels right! Just show up as yourself.

About me – I enjoy reading, becoming reacquainted with practicing yoga, and spending quality time with loved ones. I love furry friends, despite being allergic. I’m definitely a person who likes colors, sparkles, and a touch of whimsy.

If you are curious about working with me, feel free to request a 15-minute free consultation to see if we are good fit!
